His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel and His Grace Bishop Andrei participated in the regular Spring 2026 Session of the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America, held April 28–30, 2026, in Springfield, Virginia, under the presidency of His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon.
The session opened on Tuesday, April 28, with an Opening Molieben, followed by the report of His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon and the presentation of annual diocesan reports by the ruling hierarchs. Among the matters addressed was the request for retirement submitted by His Eminence Archbishop Alexander from his responsibilities as ruling hierarch of the Diocese of the South, which was approved by the Holy Synod.
During the meetings, the Holy Synod received reports concerning the life and administration of the Orthodox Church in America, including updates from the Chancellor, Secretary, Treasurer, the Office of Pastoral Life, the Pension Board, the Board of Theological Education, and the deans of St. Vladimir’s and St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminaries. The hierarchs also reviewed the ongoing work of the Synodal offices, committees, and commissions.
On Wednesday, April 29, the members of the Holy Synod gathered at the Primatial Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Washington, DC, for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, presided over by His Grace Bishop Benedict of Hartford and New England.
The Spring Session concluded on Thursday, April 30, following the remaining diocesan reports and discussions concerning the continuing pastoral, administrative, educational, and missionary work of the Orthodox Church in America.

Înaltpreasfințitul Părinte Arhiepiscop Nathaniel, și Preasfințitul Părinte Episcop Andrei, au participat la Sesiunea ordinară de Primăvară 2026 a Sfântului Sinod al Bisericii Ortodoxe din America, desfășurată între 28–30 aprilie 2026, în Springfield, Virginia, sub președinția Preafericitului Părinte Tikhon, Mitropolitul Întregii Americi și al Canadei.
Sesiunea a început marți, 28 aprilie, slujba Tedeumului, urmat de raportul Preafericitului Părinte Mitropolit Tikhon. În cadrul lucrărilor, ierarhii au prezentat rapoartele anuale ale eparhiilor pe care le păstoresc. Printre subiectele abordate s-a aflat și cererea de retragere din slujirea de ierarh eparhiot a Înaltpreasfințitului Părinte Arhiepiscop Alexander, Arhiepiscopul de Dallas și al Sudului, cerere care a fost aprobată de Sfântul Sinod.
Pe parcursul întâlnirilor, Sfântul Sinod a primit și analizat rapoarte privind viața și administrarea Bisericii Ortodoxe din America, inclusiv rapoarte din partea Cancelarului, Secretarului, Trezorierului, Oficiului pentru Viață Pastorală, Consiliului de Pensii, Consiliului pentru Educație Teologică, precum și din partea decanilor Seminarului Teologic Ortodox „Sfântul Vladimir” și Seminarului Teologic Ortodox „Sfântul Tihon”.
Miercuri, 29 aprilie, membrii Sfântului Sinod s-au adunat la Catedrala Mitropolitană „Sfântul Nicolae” din Washington, DC, pentru săvârșirea Sfintei și Dumnezeieștii Liturghii, prezidată de Preasfințitul Părinte Benedict, Episcop de Hartford și Noua Anglie.
Sesiunea de Primăvară s-a încheiat joi, 30 aprilie, după prezentarea rapoartelor eparhiale rămase și după discuții privind lucrarea pastorală, administrativă, educațională și misionară a Bisericii Ortodoxe din America.
